The Northeast Is A Way of Life

Built for those
who stayed
Back East.

Back East Co. was born from a simple conviction: the Northeast isn't just a place on the map. It's a character — forged by granite ridgelines, tidal mornings, and winters that demand something of you.

We make goods for people who understand that the best sunrise you've ever seen was in Maine, that the cleanest air hits you on a White Mountain summit, and that nothing — nowhere — beats a lobster at a weathered dock.

"You don't move Back East. You return to it."

What We Stand For

Four Territories.
One Northeast.

The Northeast demands and rewards in equal measure.

01
Woods

The Woods

Deep pine forests, moss-covered trails, and the smell of earth after rain. From the Whites to Acadia, the Northeast woods are ancient and alive.

02
Mountains

The Mountains

Granite peaks, rime ice, and ridgelines that test your conviction. From Katahdin to Monadnock, these are our cathedrals.

03
Coast

The Coast

Rocky tidal flats, fog rolling in at dawn, lobster traps stacked on weathered docks. The Atlantic on our doorstep, always.

04
Community

The Community

People who know that living Back East is a choice — and they'd make it again every time. A tribe, not a demographic.

The Northeast Ethos

You don't just
live here.
You earn it.

Every Nor'easter, every mud season, every 4am summit push — these aren't obstacles to Northeast life. They're the point of it.

Our Story

Made for those
who never
left.

Back East Co. was built by Northeasterners, for Northeasterners. We're not a nostalgia brand. We're a celebration of a region that never stops earning the loyalty of the people who call it home.

Every piece we make carries the DNA of a place: the mist off a Maine harbor, the first snow on a mountain trail, the smell of salt and pine after a storm.

The Patch

A mark that
means
something.

Our emblem isn't decoration. It's a quiet declaration — I know where I'm from. I know what matters. I choose the harder, more beautiful path.

Ken Lubin · Founder

Born in the hills.
Built by the Northeast.

Born in the hills and woods of central Massachusetts. Shaped by the winters, the granite, and the cold Atlantic.

Ken doesn't visit the Northeast — he lives it. Winters in the backcountry of the White Mountains. Summers on the rugged coast of Midcoast Maine, where the water is 52 degrees and the sunrises stop you cold. On the slopes at Wachusett, coaching the next generation of ski racers who'll learn what this region demands of you.

Back East Co. wasn't built in a boardroom. It was built on every summit, every dock, every first light over the water.

The gear is real. The curation is personal.
The Northeast is non-negotiable.

You don't just live here. You earn it.

The Summit Push: Washington in February

70 knots on the cone, rime ice on every rock, minus twenty-five at the top. And then the light comes — and through a break in the clouds you can see the Atlantic. This is what Washington gives you in February, if you earn it.

Midcoast Maine at Last Light

The boats come back around 4pm. By 6 the sky is on fire, the seals are working the ledges, and the lobster is on the dock. This is what a Maine summer evening actually looks like.

Tuesday Nights: Where Grit Is Made

School ends at 3pm. By 5 the hill is dark, the wind is howling, and the gates are set. No glamour, no crowd — just kids who just came from school pointing themselves downhill in the cold. This is where it's built.
